Secrets of the Universe

Secrets of the Universe Slot Review — Capecod Gaming

Secrets of the Universe runs on a 5×5 reel grid with 10 fixed paylines, a layout that gives it more symbol positions per spin than the standard 5×3 slot format. Released on February 2, 2022, the game pairs that larger grid with a Scatter-triggered Free Spins round built around Expanding Symbols and an Extra Free Spins mechanic, rather than relying on base-game payouts as the main source of return.

Core Gameplay Experience

The 5×5 grid and 10 paylines of Secrets of the Universe mean every spin resolves across 25 symbol positions instead of the 15 found on a typical 5×3 machine, which changes how often matching combinations can line up before any feature triggers. Betting runs from 0.1 to 20.0 per spin, a range wide enough to stretch a session at the low end or push variance at the high end. The reels are framed by planets in a light blue and black color scheme, maintaining a clear space theme without visual clutter. Capecod Gaming, the Italian studio behind the release, became part of Greentube (NOVOMATIC Group) in November 2021, a few months before Secrets of the Universe reached casino lobbies.

Features and Mechanics

Secrets of the Universe is built around four named mechanics. Scatter Symbols are the entry point into the bonus mode: landing the required combination switches the reels into the Free Spins round. Expanding Symbols grow to cover additional positions on the grid once that round is active, increasing the number of matching combinations a single spin can produce. The Extra Free Spins mechanic adds further spins on top of the initial award during that round, rather than closing the bonus mode at a fixed count. Between them, the four features put most of the game’s payout potential inside the Free Spins round, which is why the base game alone does not show the full picture of how the slot plays out over a session.

RTP, Volatility and Payout Model

Secrets of the Universe returns a theoretical 95.9% RTP with a high volatility profile, meaning winning spins land less frequently but can pay out larger sums when the Free Spins round converts. An RTP of 95.9% sits in the 41st percentile of the 4,486 slots in our catalog with a published RTP, where the median stands at 96% — a figure on the lower half of the scale rather than near the top of it. High volatility itself is shared with 2,257 of the 4,744 slots in our catalog, close to half the total, so the risk profile is common even though the return trails the median. For bankroll planning, that combination means dry stretches between hits are likely, and the payout structure leans on the Scatter-triggered Free Spins round converting rather than on steady base-game wins; keeping enough spins in reserve to reach that trigger, instead of raising the stake per spin, keeps a session running longer.

How to Play Secrets of the Universe Online

Demo mode lets a player run through the 5×5 grid, the Scatter trigger and the Expanding Symbols feature before betting real money, which is the most direct way to see how the Free Spins round behaves at this volatility level. Capecod Gaming titles are available at two casinos in our catalog, Spinbetter and 22bet; checking a casino’s licence and demo availability before depositing applies to any of its releases, not only this one. Readers can browse the wider slots category or the full demo game catalogue to compare mechanics before committing a stake, and titles in the Adventure & Treasure theme or the Free Spins category share some of the same structural logic. The Capecod Gaming hub lists where its other releases run.

Verdict on Secrets of the Universe

Secrets of the Universe suits players who are comfortable with high volatility and want a Free Spins round carrying most of the payout weight, rather than frequent small base-game hits — the 5×5 grid and Expanding Symbols mechanic reward patience through longer stretches between triggers. It is not a fit for a small bankroll or for players who want steady, frequent returns at low stakes, since the 95.9% RTP sits below the median for our catalog and the payout model depends on reaching the bonus round rather than on the base game alone.
